Needy McCreedy
Needy McCreedy is a little dog who has a big need for attention!
He is full of mischief, and always looking for the next adventure.
Needy runs on high energy, but also gets very sad when things don't go the way he wants.
Throughout his adventures, he learns that he can't do it all and it is always ok to ask for help.
Come and enjoy spending time with this adorable little pure bred Poodle and his adventures with his best friend Gently McBently and the crew from Puddle Pot Pond.
Needy is featured in every book of the series.
Gently McBently
Gently McBently is just like everyone's kind big brother. Slow to anger, wise and a steady presence when things go sideways - which with Needy McCreedy is often.
Everyone at Puddle Pot Pond knows they can rely on Gently McBently to save the day.
Gently is a pure bred Groodle (Golden Retreiver X Poodle) and has the loping personality to match.
He enjoys walks and up for cuddles from anyone, but always has his Nonni K in sight and an ear open for Needy McCreedy's next (mis)adventure.
Gently is featured in every book of the series.
Myrtle the Turtle
Myrtle is the deep thinker of Puddle Pot Pond.
She lives at Puddle Pot Pond along with various other creatures who call the pond home. Myrtle is always the first one, at the pond, the others seek for wisdom.
Sometimes, Myrtle gets caught up in her own view and opinion of the world and forgets her manners.
But, Myrtle is also the first to realise when she is wrong and never lets the sun settle on her bad mood.
Jake the Drake
Jake the Drake is our happy-go-lucky duck who calls Puddle Pot Pond his home.
The pond is visited regularly by all sorts of wood ducks and other birds, but Jake and his wife call this pond home.
In early spring Jake and his wife can be seen fiercely defending their territory whilst protecting their brood of ducklings making them excellent parents.
Jake doesn't always want to join in the fun at Puddle Pot Pond, but when he does, he has a quacking great time.
Freddy the Frog
Freddy is a little frog with a big personality.
Sometimes, you just have to go on adventure as well to see your friends Needy McCreedy & Gently McBently.
Living in the Pond is peaceful (usually) but occasionally you just have to do the frog thing and hop around exploring.
Freddy is featured in Book 2 - Fun with Freddy the Frog.
Sammie the Snake
Sammie comes and goes in the neighbourhood. Being a very wet area full of dams and ponds, Sammie can go weeks without being seen.
Sammie is a local Keelback snake and is predominately water based living on small insects and small toads.
Generally, Sammie is laid back, slow to start, slow to finish and enjoys lazing in the sun.
The Man on the Tractor
Loosely based on my brilliant husband, the Man on the Tractor uses his Zero Turn Ride On Mower for everything.
The Man on the Tractor is Gently McBently's go to person to get Needy out of trouble.
He has a keen interest in gardening, keeping all the animals safe, including Needy, Gently and most importantly his Bees!
He can often be seen feeding the Ducks (and Corellas, Rosellas, Galahs, Ibis etc) if not mowing the grass and cleaning up tree limbs.
What a handsome dude!
Mr Kanga
Mr Kanga is one of the resident Kangaroos that share the nature reserve, sporting grounds and if you leave the gate open, your lawn.
Standing at an impressive 6 feet tall, he is built like a gym junkie and doesn't really care too much about anyone who may seem to otherwise worry him.
On a foggy morning you can see Mr Kanga and all his friends and family happily eating the grass on the neighbouring Softball and AFL fields.
Harry the Butcher Bird
Harry is an excellent provider for his family and can often be seen following around The Man on the Tractor catching bugs and other tasty morsels.
Harry and his wife excel in sitting on the house deck asking politely for food and often share breakfast and lunch with Nonni K and The Man on the Tractor.
The Pond
Puddle Pot Pond is a great area on our little oasis which is home to all of these great animals.
Sometimes the sheer number of different animals is mind-blowing (and that's just the ones we can see).
Home to Jake the Drake, Myrtle the Turtle and many others, the bee hives are close by. The large trees overhand the pond and if they want a deeper swim the neighbours dams are just through the fence.
Nonni K
Being Needy and Gently's mummy can be exhausting, but the adventures are worth it.
Married to the handsome Man on the Tractor, Nonni K loves sharing the exploits of Needy & Gently.
Clara Koala
Clara loves eating gum leaves in the trees around Puddle Pot Pond.
Making her appearance in the Christmas story, she is usually high up in the trees just watching and observing the antics of the Pond.
Mrs Kanga & James the Joey
Mrs Kanga also lives outside the Pond area, but occasionally when the gate is open she and her joey 'Joey' can visit the pond and join in the adventures and have some fresh water.
She is a true nurturing mother at heart and loves looking after James.
